Summary of Position
Perform civil Type Certi? cation and Airworthiness tasks as de? ned in FAA Order 8110.4. Guide Engineering, Component Test and Quali? cation, Quality Assurance, Flight Test, and Program Management departments in planning and executing a Type Certi? cation Project for a? y-by-wire aircraft being certi? ed to Transport Category Standards. Lead resolution of issues relate to aircraft certi? cation. Coordinate FAA Designees working the Project in order to promote completion of certi? cation actions and achieve FAA compliance? ndings as required to obtain the Type Certi? cate. Execute procedures for producing FAA approval to data and establishing data retention per FAA requirements. Conduct interaction with EASA to facilitate the EASA Validation concurrent to the FAA Certi? cation. This Position requires strong interpersonal skills and project engineering skills in order to e? ectively interface with all levels of program personnel conducting meetings, discussions, presentations facilitating decisions supporting program milestones and schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop Certi? cation Plans and facilitate execution of those Plans with technical team.
Coordinate Type Certi? cation project activities in accordance with de? ned methods of compliance.
Facilitate resolution of Action Items, Issue Papers, Special Conditions, and certi? cation procedures compliance challenges. Type Certi? cation requirements
Perform all typical Type Certi? cate Applicant interaction to FAA, EASA, and other civil regulatory Authorities including weekly meetings with FAA project managers
BS in Engineering discipline required.
3-5 years’ experience working on aircraft certi? cation projects in a technical or project engineering capacity.
DER or Organization Designation Authorization Unit experience preferred.
Aircraft Software Certi? cation and Advance Electronic Hardware Certi? cation (RTCA DO-254).
Aircraft Certi? cation Systems Safety Assessment (SAE ARP 4754) preferred.
Competencies & Attributes
Familiarization to 14 CFR Part 21, 23, 25, 29, and the associated FAA Advisory Circulars. Strong interpersonal skills and leadership competencies; ability to make decisions in the presence of ambiguity; ability to resolve con? icts in an expedient and e? ective manner. Strong analytical skills.
Pro? ciency with dynamic planning in a fast-paced aircraft certi? cation program. Ability to communicate dynamic plans and achieve alignment across a diverse team.
Pro? ciency in project engineering including planning, tracing, and managing complex projects.
