The Director of Contracts is a senior leadership position reporting to the President and CEO. The Director will provide leadership relating to all contract matters. This person will provide contractual guidance to the senior leadership team in support of ongoing programs and takes the lead in evaluating risks associated with new business opportunities. Responsible for the development of strategic assessments for the implementation of all contracts in the portfolio of business and able to assess draft contractual risks. Provide leadership experience and ability to recruit and select staff, design and implement training plans for staff; assign work; assess performance, conduct performance reviews and recognition/disciplinary actions. Take the lead in negotiations to assure the settlement is in concert with company objectives and goals. Oversee the evaluation of contract performance to ensure compliance to contractual obligations, and determine necessity for contract amendments or extensions. Guide responsible Program leadership on contractual considerations; identify unusual terms and conditions and contractual performance risk elements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
10-15 years government and commercial contracting experience.
Work history showing continued increase of responsibility.
BS/BSE minimum educational requirement or 15 years experience.
MBA/JD preferred education requirement.
DoD/ Government/USN/USCG programs required
Experience with FAR/DFAR preferred.
Shipbuilding/Defense industry experience preferred.
