The Regional EHS Coordinator reports to the Director of Safety and will implement safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local regulations. They will monitor and report on the effectiveness of the environmental and safety compliance programs.
? Schedules and conducts safety/environmental meetings. Maintains current and accurate training records.
? Conducts regular safety and environmental audits.
? Ensures all safety/environmental administrative records are current and properly filed.
? Coordinates insurance and regulatory visits.
? Maintains collection of DOT forms and review of DOT inspections and investigations.
? Performs and documents regular environmental inspections including monthly/annual tank inspections, monthly storm water, engineered barrier inspections, etc.
? Coordinates regional waste disposal
? Collects environmental samples as required including storm water, waste characterization
? Gathers and reports environmental performance monitoring data as required per EMS guidelines
? Audits contractors to ensure compliance with Contractor’ s Safety Policies
? Trains current employees and new hires on proper safety and/or environmental procedures and practices.
? Conducts accident investigations of injuries and property damage ensuring documentation is correct, current and disseminated to appropriate individuals (HR, VP Operations, Safety Director). Promotes safety awareness through ensuring signage and posters are visible. Works with facility management to ensure compliance
? Reports non-compliance to the Facility Manager. Works with management on corrective actions to resolve non-compliance issues.
? Provides regular report of inspections and compliance status to Vice President, Operations and corporate management.
? Wears all necessary PPE when in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times. Failure to follow standards may result in loss of position.
? Other responsibilities as assigned Qualifications
A minimum of 3 years prior safety and environmental experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is required. The right candidate must be able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization both written and verbal. The position requires 50% travel including some overnight stays. Valid drivers’ license required. You must be proficient in computer use and have experience in Word, PowerPoint and other similar programs
