Experimental Ops Mechanic- Philadelphia, PA

 

Summary

The experimental operations mechanic will support flight test operational activity, perform reconfiguration activity to ensure aircraft is properly fitted for each certification and experimental test activity, and perform functional test procedures to ensure mechanical systems are functioning within design parameters.  The mechanic will perform mechanical system troubleshooting to identify non-conformities and defects.    Overtime and weekend work is expected.

 

Responsibilities

Performs inspections on the aircraft as instructed through Engineering Technical Instructions

Prepare the experimental aircraft for flight by performing the daily inspection, towing, briefing with pilots, launching, and recovering aircraft into the hangar using SOP

Perform Function Test Procedures to test system on ground prior to flight to ensure system functionality and flight safety

Perform first-of-type and prototype installations and software with engineering input and work instructions

Follow job cards to remove and install LRUs and components as needed.

 

Education

High school degree required

Airframe and Powerplant License preferred

 

Experience

Tiltrotor experience (preferred - not required)

8-10 years of hands-on experience with operating aircraft required (rotor or fixed wing)

Experience with experimental activity or experimental prototype aircraft preferred.

 

Competencies

Must be able to perform basic mechanical system troubleshooting.
